Radical 'Rings The Changes
26th June 2010
Radical’s inaugural Speed Weekend, the second round of the 2010 Shell Racing Solutions Radical Masters, has kicked off today at the Nürburgring, Germany.
Also forming the fourth round of the Competition Car Insurance Radical UK Cup, drivers in both series have been blessed with clear skies and high track temperatures, ideal driving conditions. 37 teams have entered this weekend’s event, with representation from the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Italy, The Netherlands, South Africa and the Middle East amongst others.
Running as a Radical Speed Weekend, the teams have enjoyed over three hours of testing today, ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying session and two 50-minute endurance races. The Radical Works Team pairing of Shaun Balfe and Roger Bromiley have set the initial pace, with a fastest lap of 1:59.501, 0.544 seconds ahead of Jamie Patterson in his SR8 LM. Third fastest is series returnee Chris Hyman in his older-specification SR8, with a slender 0.128 advantage over current series leaders, Terrence Woodward and Ross Kaiser.
In the Supersports class for the SR3 and SR5 models, it’s championship rookie Marco Cencetti that has set the pace so far, with a best time of 2:02.823, ahead of Peter Osborn and Ross Allen.
The final practice session of the day follows later; more news to come.
